Signed! Three DHS Athletes Sign NCAA Division 1 Scholarships

By Adam Navarro

Three of Delta’s best athletes signed national letters of intent this morning to play NCAA Division 1 sports.

Seniors Brady Samuels, Sam Bennett and Bella Dearinger are three of the four student-athletes this year who will sign with an NCAA Division 1 school. Brady Hunt plans to sign with Ball State University in December to play football.

Samuels, who was state runner-up in the 100 freestyle and sixth place in the 50 freestyle last year, signed with Purdue University for men’s swimming. He has not decided what he will study.

“I just really like the campus, the pool is great, and I really like the coach and the team,” Samuels said.

Bennett, the state diving champion last winter, signed with Purdue University as well, joining Samuels as a future Boilermaker. He is undecided on what to study.

“Well [Brady is] one person that I know on campus, so that’s a plus,” Bennett said. “It’s just a great program, great team, and overall it’s just an awesome school.”

Dearinger, chosen to the All-State volleyball team this week, signed for women’s volleyball with Murray State University, located in Murray, Ky. She plans on studying telecommunications.

“I really like the coaching staff, and they have a beautiful campus,” Dearinger said. “I’m hoping to come in and obviously play, but I’m just going to work hard and get to that spot.”

Congratulations to all these athletes, and good luck at the next level!
