Teachers spend a lot of their time teaching and preparing for their students but have you ever thought about what they do when they get to relax?
Maybe cook, travel or watch movies.
Math teacher Mrs. Lorie Crouch enjoys making a variety of dishes.
“I don’t think I have a favorite dish,” she said. “I just like it when all my kids like my food so I like to make stuff they like to eat.”
Crouch also has some family recipes that have been passed down generations. She said some of these recipes are spaghetti, pies and black bottom muffins.
Crouch doesn’t have a most challenging recipe.
“I think anything you try for the first time is challenging because you don’t have a clue what you are doing,” she said. “You don’t know the timing and you don’t know how things are going to go. I just feel like the first time you make something it’s always stressful.”

She didn’t take any classes to help her cook. She did take a cake decorating class, but that’s the closest she has gotten.
Her go-to meal is sloppy joe or spaghetti. She loves Chinese and Asian food.
“You just have to try. You just have to experiment and try something out and if it doesn’t work try it again,” she said.
That’s the best tip she received throughout cooking
One time Crouch had a major cooking disaster.
She said she tried to substitute a recipe for gingerbread. She put molasses in it and it overloaded because it wasn’t the right constituency. It caught the oven on fire .
Crouch said she gets her recipes from her food board on Pinterest.
She’s looking to try more foods throughout her cooking journey.
“I always have a board on Pinterest of things to try so I have a whole bunch of them,” she said. “It’s just finding the time to get them done.”
English teacher Miss Betsy Marshall loves to do something way different. She’s interested in a lot of movies.
She said her all-time favorite movie is Interstellar.
She prefers watching movies at home because she’s able to be in her comfortable clothes and have her snacks. Her favorite actors are Matthew McConaughey or Florence Pugh.
She says she can watch the movies Interstellar, Dune and Little Women over and over. She loves adventure movies.
Little Women and Dead Poets Society has inspired Marshall’s teaching career.
Marshall said she was excited about the movie Moana 2 but it disappointed her. She cried at the movie Intersection. She said it was really good.
The movie with the best visual effect she said was any Christopher Nolan movie. The movie that had the best character development was Little Women.
Marshall says she enjoys watching movies with subtitles because “if I have the subtitles on I’m able to get distracted and come back but it enhances the experience if I don’t have them on.”
Business and phys ed teacher Miss Tyronda Benning likes to travel. Her favorite vacation destinations are Florida and Arizona.
She said the most memorable vacation she has taken is when she went to Scottsdale, Ariz., alone on a self vacation. She likes to plan out her vacations ahead of time rather than just go with the flow.

She also has traveled to another country before. She went to Mexico and stayed at an all inclusive resort which included room services and spas.
Her favorite thing about vacation is the food.
The longest vacation Tyronda has taken has been eight days. She prefers relaxing vacations. One of her dream vacation spots is Maldives.
