Moments to Cherish

By Jacob Williams

It’s the moment everyone has waited for. The school year is wrapping up and finals are approaching rapidly. Seniors don’t have much longer with the things they like about high school.

Senior Sabrina Cheek will miss the creativeness that acting gives her.

“I am a big character actor,” she said. “When I get an interesting character to dissect, you give it a walk, you give it a talk, and I love that so much being able to build a person.”

She also has done band for seven years and enjoys the environments that band and theater have given her.

“Everyone is supportive in those environments because you are all working toward the same objective and everyone wants to help you achieve that objective,” Cheek said.

Most senior students will be experiencing their last moments together but early grads have even less time to process the end of their high school years. Trinity Eacret graduated this school year as she completed her credits.

Trinity misses someone rather than something at Delta. The person that she misses is football head coach Chris Overholt.

“I was closer to Coach O than anyone else. He went to school with both my parents and I felt more comfortable talking to him,” Eacret said. “He gave life advice about everything and helped me out when I went through some tough times. He gave me a safe place that I was able to get away to when I needed time.”

Some people may dislike the amount of work that school entails, but senior Ryder Riggin likes the routine and the pressure of high school.

“[Having] the same schedule, same classes everyday also helps me get my assignments done on time,” Riggin said. “I like working under pressure, I like working in very fast-paced environments. It’s the sense of accomplishment I get afterwards. I’ve been like ‘Hey I just did that’  and it was a pretty difficult task so I should feel proud.”

Senior Linus Weimer also likes having a schedule to build around.

“I helps keep me on track, like I wake up at a specific time each day and I go to bed around a specific time each day,” Weimer said. “It helps prepare for the future. If you work 9 to 5 you have to keep a schedule so pretty much preparing myself for life.”

The school year is quickly wrapping up and seniors will have to leave someone or something. Enjoy it while it lasts.
